Abstract

The present study values and compares the mortality of wild fauna and its collision rate in the road that drives of San Onofre, Sucre to María la Baja, Bolívar, in dry and rainy season; with longitude of 49Km it skirts the northwest portion of Montes de María, wide area of forest dry tropical remainder of the Colombian Caribbean.
We work during 6 continuous months of October from 2014 to March of 2015, with two walk/week for a total of 48 samplings, carried out of 05:00 to 08:00 hours, with half speed of 15 km/hour. The samples were identified in situ.
When comparing statistically the two season samples with the total runnings over, doesn’t exists signifi cant difference (DS=13.213, t=0.468, df=31, p=0,642). nevertheless, in a particular way, analyzing each group regarding the climatic time signifi cant difference exist for the birds group (DS=1.449, t=2.400, f=9, p=0.039). With 48 sessions worked one has a daily running over rate (TA) of 0.328 ind/day/km. The TA of the present study is
relatively high when comparing it with that settled down in other works. The studied road requires otherwise of signaling and infrastructure that it offers protection to the wild fauna, the situation it could put in risk to many of the species that inhabit these dry forest relicts.
